Evaluation can provide information about the whole process of teaching and
learning. Evaluation is a wider concept. It comprises not only test but also the
continuous assessment which is made daily by the teacher by analysis of the
material, syllabus, textbook, teaching aid etc. Testing is only one component
of evaluation. In the context of language teaching, evaluation is intended to
evaluate the language learners’ ability and to know their level of language
competence. In addition, evaluation is also useful to improve teaching and
learning process because a good evaluation can provide the whole accurate
information about the whole process of teaching and learning.
